Daphne by Justine Picardie

One of the best books of the year for me! It operates on three levels The Brontes, The Du Mauriers and an unnamed PhD living with her older Husband in Hampstead in current time.

Branwell Bronte has always fascinated me and this book raises the question as to whether his work has been misattributed to Charlotte and especially to Emily's incredible poems.
I won't spoil anymore of the story but I had no idea of Daphne's connection to the Llewellyn Davies brothers (who inspired J M Barrie's Peter Pan) or that her husband was a well known career soldier who worked at Buckingham Palace.

Here's a great article if you'd like to know more!

And didn't you think it was just SO LOVELY when you found out the narrator's name? It was like a gift from the author to the reader.

You've written some seriously fabulous new posts today, Julia Hon.
